Refund Policy

Union Beyond Walls, LLC

This Refund Policy describes the limited circumstances under which Union Beyond Walls, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") will issue refunds for payment of administrative coordination services for proxy marriages. This Policy is incorporated into and subject to the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms used but not defined have the meanings given in the Terms.

1. Summary (Quick answer)

Refunds are available only if:

  • The client is found ineligible during our initial eligibility review and we cannot render Services; or
  • The client cancels prior to commencement of document review and prior to the start of ceremony coordination.

Once document review or ceremony coordination has started, services are non‑refundable.


2. Definitions

  • Initial eligibility review means the Company's first substantive review of submitted information and documents to determine whether we can proceed under applicable law and our operational procedures.
  • Document review means the Company's substantive review, validation, or preparation of client documents required for the marriage process (including verifying identity documents, reviewing prior‑marriage termination documents, and preparing filings).
  • Ceremony coordination means actions taken to arrange, schedule, or coordinate the solemnization of the marriage (including contacting officiants, scheduling dates and times, submitting paperwork to third parties, or arranging filings).
  • Refundable event means an event qualifying for a refund under Section 4.

3. Who is eligible for a refund

You are eligible for a refund only if:

  • During the initial eligibility review, we determine you are ineligible to proceed and we cannot render Services; or
  • You cancel in writing before we commence document review and before ceremony coordination begins.

4. Refundable events and process

Ineligibility Determination

If during the initial eligibility review Company determines that you do not meet legal or jurisdictional requirements for the Services and Company cannot proceed, Company will:

  • Promptly notify you in writing with the reason for ineligibility; and
  • Issue a refund of the service fee paid for Services less any non‑refundable government or third‑party fees actually incurred and unrecoverable by Company.

Timely Cancellation

If you notify Company in writing of cancellation before Company begins document review and before ceremony coordination starts, Company will:

  • Confirm receipt of cancellation in writing; and
  • Issue a refund of the service fee paid for Services less any non‑refundable government or third‑party fees actually incurred and unrecoverable by Company.

Method and Timing of Refunds

Refunds will be issued to the original payment method where feasible. Company will process approved refunds within 14 business days of the refund determination. Actual timing for funds to appear in your account depends on the payment processor (Stripe) and your banking institution.

Deductions

Company may deduct from the refund any non‑refundable governmental fees, third‑party vendor fees, or other unrecoverable costs that Company has already paid on your behalf. Company will provide an itemized statement of any such deductions upon issuing a refund.

5. Non‑Refundable Circumstances

  • No refunds will be issued once Company has commenced document review or begun ceremony coordination.
  • No refunds for delays caused by government agencies, third‑party processors, officiants, correctional facilities, or other third parties.
  • No refunds for disagreements about legal recognition, immigration consequences, or other legal outcomes.
  • No refunds for failure to obtain or provide documents after the initial intake that prevent timely completion, except to the extent Company determines the client is ineligible during the initial review as described above.

6. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email support@unionbeyondwalls.com with the subject line "Refund Request" and include:

  • Your name and contact information;
  • The Order number or invoice reference;
  • A brief explanation of the reason for the request; and
  • Any supporting documentation.

Company will acknowledge receipt of your request within 5 business days and will investigate promptly. Company may request further information to verify eligibility for a refund.

7. Disputes

If you dispute a refund decision, you may raise the dispute through our informal dispute process (send a written notice to the contact email) and, if unresolved, pursue remedies as set out in the Terms of Service (including arbitration, if applicable and not validly opted out of).

8. Miscellaneous

Changes. Company may amend this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on our website with an updated Effective Date. Continued use of Services after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
